I enjoyed everything about my internship. I had a great time learning how to write better code and met a lot of smart people. I've never been to Silicon Valley, so I can't say that Comcast is on that level, but I definitely know that they are not seen as a tech company, even though they are doing a lot of really cool stuff. They treat their employees fairly and even sometimes provide some free gear. There is enough change and things going on to not get bored on the same amount of code.
For a company as big as Comcast, I expected the compensation for a SWE intern to be much higher. The industry standard for interns at these kinds of companies is more generous.
They are also attempting to make their company more like a Silicon Valley company, which I believe will never fully happen, but an upgrade on perks would be nice. Of course, I didn't experience the free cable as an intern, but catered lunches and help with transportation costs would be nice :)
Upgrade compensation and perks for your SWEs so that people can take Comcast more seriously as a tech company. It will help out your future.
I had a behavioral phone call that lasted about 30 minutes. The call included general questions about me, my qualifications, and what I was looking to gain from the internship. I was told that there could be another round afterward, but I never heard
The interview process begins with a HireVue. After, you will do an interview with the manager or upper-level management. They will ask you about your past experiences and see how interested you are in this position.
Disorganized and unprofessional. Multiple weeks between interview stages. No status updates without multiple follow-ups to the Comcast recruiter who originally contacted me. The on-site interview felt rushed, and the hiring managers seemed generally
