Good benefits, but only at a cost.
I just got let go here after being promised that I would not be. I was led on and told I was going to be working as a cashier and member service, and that I successfully passed my 90 days of probation.
They fired me without warning, which has thrown a wrench in my whole life. Now I can no longer go to school and have to move out of my apartment.
The board runners are completely unorganized. They don’t follow through with the hours they give you, often sending people home early because they don’t make enough sales to keep you for a full shift.
One particular supervisor, Trish, is extremely rude and unprofessional and will be out to get any new hire to guarantee her own position. She’s made extremely grotesque faces at me, has a nasty tone of voice, and is an avid micromanager, nitpicking at things that have nothing to do with work ethic or job performance.
I’ve had cashiers desperately ask for my help because they are so overworked and understaffed.
They also took union dues out of my paycheck knowing that they were going to fire me.
The benefits are good, but at a cost.
I would not suggest working or applying here if you are a college student or someone looking to buy a home or build a life. They will fire you without notice, they will give you minimal hours, and they are not flexible at all, even though they claim to be.
One of the member services also upsold me an extra $120 on an upgraded membership, even though I was supposed to get a free membership for being an employee.
Very money-hungry company that hides behind a friendly mask.
If I could rate this Costco 0 stars, I would.
Get organized. Hire people who actually motivate employees and don't break them down. Be more flexible with younger people. Be more transparent about scheduling and positions.
Also, lying to your employees and guaranteeing them higher positions, employment, or better pay is never a good thing, so maybe don't do that anymore.
The interview process includes typical retail experience questions and scenario-based questions and answers. It is dependent on the warehouse, but it typically involves the candidate and the department manager. Overall, a fairly simple process.
Easy. Straightforward. Just like any other company. Asked a few questions about your job history and how you work with others. Then told me I should hear back in a couple days.
It was relatively easy. I just asked basic questions about experience. Most of the harder questions came from asking about customer service. Just remember they aren't customers, but members. They offer little training, so once you start, you're kin
