Pros

For reference, this is in the member service branch of the company, not corporate IT.

  • Very nice gym on campus available to employees
  • Great work-life balance
  • Not a lot of red tape
  • Fantastic health insurance
  • Free Costco membership
Cons
  • Garbage yearly raise - max raise of 2.99%
  • Absolutely no flexibility in remote work - we are required to be in office without explanation
  • Management is stretched far too thin
  • People are often promoted due to seniority rather than skill, leading to enormous growing pains for new managers and those working under them
  • Not nearly enough oversight on processes or requirements from business - eg: they ask, we do, no questions asked
  • Often working to lead multiple projects at once
  • No project management
  • No business analysis for projects
  • No sort of analysis before projects are moved forward to development
  • Team is far too small
  • Pay is not competitive with the market
  • Unrealistic timelines
  • Not a lot of opportunity for growth
Advice to Management

If you say a project is integral to the success of the business, treat that project like it's important. Nothing is more frustrating than being alone on a "very important" project that isn't getting assigned any sort of help or assistance. Be realistic about your expectations.

Pay your employees more.
