The process starts with a conversation with a recruiter. They will tell you that Coupang is South Korea's answer to Amazon, and that leadership is made up of many former Amazon employees.

I was assured that the culture was not similar to Amazon, but that is not at all what I found.

The next step was a one-hour phone interview with an engineer. The person who called me was not interested in having a conversation; they just asked coding questions the entire time, using Collabedit. They didn't seem interested in following along with what I was doing and were clearly putting me on mute, probably to focus on their tasks at work.

The next step was a five-hour in-person interview. The interview time and the people scheduled to talk to me changed once before I went in, and I was informed of another change once I arrived for the interview.

One of my interviewers was very late, while another acted like they simply didn't want to be there. Almost every person in my interview process was a former Amazon employee.

They seemed more concerned about having questions answered exactly as they wanted, as opposed to being willing to think about alternative solutions that may be more efficient. It was also the first time I had an interviewer decide to take a break during the interview and leave the room.

There doesn't seem to be any effort to present themselves well.
