I received the coding challenge invitation in March, which was easy and straightforward. However, it took a month for a recruiter to reach out about the next process. I guess this wasn't too bad, considering it's a big company with a lot going on, especially with the pandemic.
They asked me to fill out an availability form, which I did. But they didn't reach out for another month, so I figured I might as well fill out the form again to see if anything happened.
The day after I resubmitted the form, a recruiter contacted me and invited me to a phone interview. I suspect the timeslots I initially provided were unavailable, and they didn't reach out, which I interpreted as a way of showing how "well" they treat their employees. Their time is so important, and it's such a great company to work for, that candidates are expected to know the interviewers' schedules without any information.
I suppose I was expected to train myself and come up with the best approach, especially since I applied for a Machine Learning SWE position. The interviewer didn't seem particularly interested after 25 minutes, which I assume was my fault for not finishing the problem as if it were a LeetCode copy-paste.
The recruiter never responded after I sent an email, so I assumed I didn't get the job. They could have at least sent a rejection letter. Perhaps this is a cultural aspect where people's time is not valued.
