The interview process was a bit odd towards the end. The first step was talking to an internal recruiter to field my interest and expertise. The second stage was a phone interview and code challenge using CoderPad. This was very good, and the challenge was a good one. It was a great way to show what I could do.
Then I waited two days for an onsite interview, where things were so-so. What disappointed me was the change in interviewers and the fact that I was suddenly interviewing for different roles that I had no idea what they were. The second interviewer was done via video conference. He looked like he had just woken up and seemed like he was fighting focus during the interview.
Instead of using something like CoderPad again, I had to use a digital whiteboard that locked up early in the interview process, which made it hard to showcase my work. They kindly treated me to lunch, but to be honest, it was hard to gauge what they wanted me to showcase.
To me, the interviewers did not seem very prepared to do an interview that day, and I do not feel I was able to showcase my skills and knowledge like I have been able to on past interviews. I did four of them, and each had about 45 minutes to go through my resume and drill my knowledge. Two were not able to completely evaluate me.
There are very smart people who work there, but I think they need to seriously work on how they conduct interviews and prepare for them.
Describe Java Programming Design Patterns. This is where the interviewer wrote down a few on a whiteboard (that he struggled to remember) and I had to describe them.
I was given a very long scenario and asked to whiteboard the structure of the application.
