Software Engineer Interview Experience - Boston, Massachusetts

Process

A recruiter from CVS Health called me on the phone without emailing me, which was fine. He said that he would be sending my application to the hiring manager. We went over my background, including the two years I worked previously as a software engineer at a FANG company.

A week later, I hadn't heard from him, so I called him back. He told me the hiring manager wasn't interested in moving forward because I don't have a degree in computer science or engineering. I guess my degree in physics and my two years at the second-largest software company on earth wasn't enough to overcome my lack of a degree in the exact correct discipline.

Maybe it was an excuse, and the real reason was something else, but it was the most ridiculous rejection feedback I've ever heard.
