Exhausting Remote Culture

Pros

Stable company with a relatively positive impact.

Cons

The remote work culture (during Covid) was 40 hours/week of paired programming, and I couldn't last more than 1 year before I burnt out completely. Mgmt was actively ignoring my concerns about burnout and would drag their feet, promising changes to the company culture that never came.

Advice to Management

Listen to your employees when they're sharing feedback about how burnt out they are. If your consultants who evangelize "Extreme Programming" don't pair-program more than 6 hours/day, then you probably shouldn't either.
