If you are friends with someone in a position of power, you will do very well.
If you are not friends with someone in a position of power, good luck. You will be lied to, misled, misinformed, and backstabbed. HR will not help you when you are wronged; they will turn a blind eye. Management will promise things to get you to work harder but not deliver on those promises later.
