A recruiter contacted me to start the interview process. After agreeing on a date, I had my first technical interview, which involved solving a coding exercise live, one-on-one with someone from Datadog, using the Coderpad platform.
The interview began with typical questions, such as why I wanted to switch jobs and what I had done in the past. When we moved on to the first exercise, we had less than 30 minutes.
They emphasize explaining each step you take.
So, once I had a draft of the first exercise (using pseudocode, without fixing compilation issues, and without completing exceptional cases), we moved on to the second exercise, where they directly asked for only pseudocode to be written.
In the end, I was rejected because the solution did not compile and was incomplete.
It seems the interviewers may not fully understand what they are asking for, and they evaluate you on details they themselves told you not to finish.
