The interview process was very long and stressful. After an initial screening interview with the recruiter, I was asked to complete a live-coding interview and a take-home project. Following that, there were four more interviews: another coding interview, a design and architecture interview, an interview with a Hiring Manager, and a management interview.
The overall feedback was very negative, and the interview was a complete waste of time. Despite applying for a mobile lead position, I didn't have the opportunity to showcase my mobile skills because all technical interviews focused on data structures and complexity, which are typically backend concerns.
Furthermore, the design interview was a mess. The assignment was to design a log-sending SDK, and since I know exactly how the Firebase Analytics SDK works, I designed something similar. However, according to the interviewer, my design choices (which were, in turn, Google's design choices) were inaccurate, and he had a better solution. Yes, of course!
The only positive aspect was the recruiter, Marion. She was really kind and professional and helped me a lot during the whole process.
All coding interviews were about algorithms and data structures, more or less related to DataDog's domain (parsing and filtering logs and similar tasks).
Management interviews focused on management style, previous experience, and a deep dive into a project I worked on.
