Pros

Compensation commensurate with other high-tech companies. Dell also offers opportunities to really change things and strike out on your own. However, there are downside risks to doing so with almost no upside.

Cons

There is no overall vision or strategy that is consistent over the long term. There is also a maniacal focus on what's wrong and on mistakes, versus encouraging risk-taking. The company pays lip service to risk-taking and diversity. In action, neither are embraced. Just look at the senior executive ranks over time for a proof point. Dell is also very inconsistent in promotion policies between different divisions, from the junior to executive ranks. If you are in the "in" crowd, it can be good. However, if you fall out, you are in deep trouble.

Advice to Management

Be more transparent, particularly to middle management, and react quicker.
