During a company meeting, we were accused of unethical behavior due to the excessive consumption of vegetables. This continued with repeated emails.
I felt really bad because I have never consumed those untasty vegetables but still had to suffer through the negative vibes. The site management claimed that this behavior is considered theft. Individuals should buy their own salad with their lunch budget instead.
At this point, this issue really got my blood pressure way too high, even though I could never understand the buzz around those tasteless veggies.
This was not the only occasion where employees were referred to as thieves. In another company meeting, a management representative said that using sick leave when not actually really ill is also considered theft.
I got some more negative vibes at this time of year when the "anonymous" survey "Best companies to work for" takes place. Prior to the "launch" of the survey, some managers instructed employees (in closed meetings, of course) to rank the company only with excellent scores (at least 9 out of 10) on major topics.
Somehow, I felt that this survey was far from being anonymous.
These examples reflect the general attitude of the management towards individuals in the engineering team.
Get better vegetables; they have a weird aftertaste.
