Great Benefits, poor career opportunities

Pros

Some great benefits such as a 401k match with immediate vesting, bonus, tuition reimbursement, and subsidized healthcare costs.

Work-life balance is great in my position. Forty hours of work a week is the norm, with very low stress.

Great coworkers who are hard-working and not difficult to deal with. Management in the office is very flexible and helpful in assisting with issues.

Cons
  • Absolutely no career development in my office.
  • Cut PTO across the board by 5 days, and forced to accrue time with only 2 weeks advance notice.
  • Went private and stopped giving yearly raises.
  • Less of an overall team environment, as everyone is supporting their government customers in groups or individually. May not do work with many Dell employees.
Advice to Management

Employees understand that some short-term cuts have to be made (such as what was done with PTO benefits) in order for the company to succeed in the long term.

But give employees more notice when you are going to make cuts, not on a Friday afternoon two weeks before the cuts go into effect. That is just bad business.
