Pros

Excellent opportunities for software developers and business analysts seeking a job in the healthcare domain.

On-site opportunities are plenty, especially for US-based clients.

Reward systems in place are at par, if not better than those of other companies.

Cons

Increments aren't up to industry standards, in my humble opinion. Constant negotiations with the client lead to cost minimization in a project, which leads to lower salaries. With the high price of the dollar, one would expect otherwise.

Inorganic growth is Dell Services' only growth at the moment. Existing employees find growth very hard to achieve. Compared to Indian-based firms, the difference is massive. This has led to a very high attrition rate.

Advice to Management

Start development of in-house software suites and invest in research and development, rather than acquisition of other companies. Also, believe in the potential of your existing employees, driving organic growth within the organization. Even the upper management of the company is hired from other companies.

Learn from the likes of Reckitt Benckiser and how organic growth helped them achieve a huge chunk of market share with limited resources. Similarly, Taj Group has dedicated and motivated employees who spend their entire professional lives with them.

HR needs to incorporate stricter practices to weed out employees who they think will leave the company in the future. Loyalty to the organization needs to be incorporated in each individual.

Following these points would drive costs down and lead clients to believe in the competency of the company. This would enable Dell Services to compete well with IBM and Accenture.
