Dubai is tax-free, but this is not so much a pro for Dell EMC but for Dubai.
HR is utterly incompetent. They told me on my last day, after I had moved out of my house, that I needed to stay an additional week to cancel my visa because "I didn't resign in the correct manner." This would result in my possible detention if I returned to the UAE. They refused to honor my contract and eventually stopped responding to emails altogether.
As a transfer from the UK, I was advised that nothing would change when transferring to the UAE, but this was a complete lie. Pay rises were promised and never materialized, and I was traveling 95% of the time. I drove my car one time in 45 days. Promises of less travel also never materialized.
The toxic Dell culture seems to be taking root in EMC, and it's all downhill. Most of my colleagues are looking to jump ship, based on conversations I've had, for similar reasons.
Dubai HR are utterly incompetent.
This all started with a referral. I received a call about a week after I was referred. There was first an HR interview over the phone, followed by a couple of telephone screen interviews. This was then followed by an in-person interview with the S
It was great, actually. The person who interviewed me was knowledgeable and engaging. We spent a long time chatting and talking about the role. I was then introduced to several other managers.
The process included many phone interviews with different levels of employees, such as peers, various managers, and individuals higher up. When it was time to come in person to the office for the in-person interviews, the process took about 5 hours.
