Big brand name, small technology needs, process complications
Dell is a big brand name; it will look good on your resume. The pay could be comparable to industry standards if bargained well. Employee policies are fairly reasonable and sound. It is possible to get a good work-life balance.
Technology content and depth in work is minimal.
Business process has undue presence and importance in a techie's work.
Hardware gets mixed with software liberally. This is not comfortable for the pure software person.
Please treat software differently from hardware/manufacturing.
Please don't process this as an excuse for not having a culture.
