Pros

All below points are for EMC.

  1. Working on latest technologies.
  2. Perfect planning and execution.
  3. Work from home facility (varies from team to team).
  4. Good compensation.
  5. Product Management people are knowledgeable.

For Dell:

  • Work from home policies and leave policy are good.
  • One will get 45 leaves per year, which is huge compared to other companies.
  • Every quarter, team outings to a resort nearby.
Cons

Points below only for Dell.

  • Not on latest technologies.
  • Following an old-school release process, which is also done on weekends.
  • They don't believe in Agile; they think Waterfall is better than Agile.
  • People are very much into politics.
  • The work environment is very bad, and offices are very crowded. You need to struggle a lot to get a chair.
  • Management is very aggressive in terms of releases (they want a big feature within a month, with changes in requirements until the last week).
  • They set very aggressive deadlines and keep changing requirements until the last time, resulting in you having to work overnight and on weekends.

Product owners are not as knowledgeable here compared to EMC.

Advice to Management
