Pros

I had very intelligent people on my team who gave me useful information that is difficult to find.

My manager was extraordinarily talented in software development, and also pushed me to become more skilled.

The team is very accessible when you need help.

Cons
  • Pay is below market rate.
  • Upper management cuts out expenses that improve employees' quality of life.
  • Upper management doesn't care if you can make ends meet.
  • No options for fully remote work.
  • Monotonous work.
Advice to Management

If I was promised more than the standard ~2% raise on base pay (below market rate) after my second year of good performance, I would have stayed. This was when they were experiencing an unprecedented amount of turnover due to the pandemic. I consistently asked for feedback from my manager, who said I was performing well, but upper management refused to give any sort of guarantee of a higher raise. If management refuses to pay market rate, then expect your engineers to leave.
