It pays the bills, but...
Dell bought a company I was working for. They outsourced to India, reduced salaries and benefits in any creative ways they could. They laid off employees and put pressure on everyone to work long hours by being in constant "crisis mode". The work-life balance was terrible, and the pay was lower than at other companies. Upper management is not supportive; rather, they believe their only job is to keep pressure on to get more out of employees.
There is not much the managers can do to fix the work-life balance issue. A few that stood up to upper management were laid off or eventually left themselves.
