Pros

If you have a manager that does not play the favorites game, your skills and expertise are not only recognized but lauded.

Cons

If your manager is a two-faced backstabber, then you get hosed at every turn. No training, no understanding, and they just look to kick you in the back of the head at any opportunity.

Advice to Management

Review time should include just your skills and stack rank and leave the managers' feelings out of this equation. This fact led to my resignation from a good position.
