Found by a staffing agency, I was passed on to a recruiter who screened me and then set up three 30-minute interviews.
While I appreciated the offer, I would say overall it was a negative experience.
Firstly, two-thirds of the in-office interviews were on the phone, so I didn't really get a chance to meet and feel out the team I would be working for. A few days after the interviews, I was called by the recruiter, who informed me they intended to make an offer but wanted to know if I would accept. I said it depended upon the position level, compensation, and job functions (it was a newish team, so they weren't sure what the mix of dev/management work would be).
About a week later, they got back to me with a verbal compensation offer that was 30% less than the figure we had discussed and two positions lower. I understand because I gave a high figure, but this was a large discrepancy, and I felt slighted for them to wait this long and offer this much less.
The low compensation offer combined with it being two positions lower created a negative experience. Further, the interviewers I talked with never said anything to indicate that this was a role where I could learn, grow, and move up, so I was not willing to take the bait and switch.
After all of that, I said I was still willing to consider the offer, but I would need them to go 10% higher on compensation, and I would want to talk with the team manager once more.
The recruiter said they would check in and get back to me, and then they ghosted me! I missed a call from them and then returned the call and left a voice message and didn't hear back. Two weeks later, I sent them an email to check in and never heard back!
I understand if they could not offer more money/a better position, but to ghost me after this entire process is completely unprofessional.
Fairly standard questions. I was asked to review my experience and asked questions about the blockchain industry at present, my thoughts on what is valuable, etc. There was one semi-technical interview where I was asked about smart contract design patterns, as well as how data is disseminated across a network of nodes.
