Process

Heard that there were four rounds: 1- technical, 2- technical in-depth, 3- Versant, and 4- managerial/HR. Here is what happened in my case:

I received a call from a consultancy mentioning that this position was for a Java support project. I arrived at 1:30 PM. After a very long wait, I got a chance to attend my first round at 6:30 PM, which was after multiple follow-ups. My resume was taken. There were candidates who were waiting for their second round until 7 PM, having attended their first round around 10 AM.

Basically, the interview panel was not present at all. Why should they call if they aren't ready to take interviews or hire people for the open positions?

Okay, after a long wait, at least I got a chance to attend the first round, where others were still waiting, and many of them left before attending.

Here is what my experience was:

I was almost unconscious. The interviewer asked me to explain about myself. I tried to explain. After that, he asked to explain OOPS concepts with the example of the conference room in which we were sitting. I tried to explain too. He wanted more from me, but with a lot of patience, I tried to answer his questions. The interview lasted for 1.5 hours. He continued to question me until I said I was not aware of what he was asking. Maybe that is what he was expecting from me for 1.5 hours.

Finally, after losing my patience, I asked him whether I was in or out because I had been waiting for six hours to attend the first round. He said he would let me know in a few minutes. As soon as I came back, a person came and said I could leave for the day. I felt happy that I was not in because I really hated the person who took the interview.

I heard from a co-candidate that he did not shortlist a single person in the first round. I wonder if he is cracked or something.

The good thing is that the Deloitte folks really took care of the food because people were waiting for long hours. Nice company, I hope, but this interviewer has spoiled its fame in my view.

Questions

Serialization, difference between access modifiers and specifiers, synchronization, generics, methods in Object class. I forgot others, as he almost asked more than 20 topics.
