Review: Disappointing and Unprofessional Recruitment Experience with Deloitte
I’m writing this review to express my frustration and disappointment with the recruitment process I experienced at Deloitte for a Team Lead Front-End Developer role. Unfortunately, what started as an exciting opportunity quickly turned into a waste of time and energy due to poor communication, lack of transparency, and what feels like a complete disregard for candidates' efforts.
At the end of last year, I went through a lengthy and rigorous recruitment process that spanned nearly two months. This included multiple interview stages, technical challenges, and assessments—all of which I completed successfully. By the final stage, I was told verbally (after having to follow up several times) that I was “the perfect candidate” for the role. However, there was a catch: the budget hadn’t been approved yet. While this was disappointing, they reassured me that if the budget came through in January, they would reach out to me immediately.
Fast forward to February, and not only have I heard nothing from them, but I’ve also noticed that they’ve posted a senior position within the same team on their careers page. Clearly, the team is hiring again—but no one has contacted me about either the original role or this new opening. To add insult to injury, when I applied directly to the senior position out of curiosity, my CV didn’t even pass the initial screening phase. It’s hard not to feel completely disregarded after investing so much time and effort into their process.
What frustrates me most is the lack of professionalism throughout this experience. There was never any written confirmation of their verbal promises regarding the budget approval or future contact. For a company of Deloitte’s stature, this level of disorganization and mismanagement is unacceptable. The fact that they are now actively recruiting for similar roles without acknowledging my previous involvement makes it seem like they simply used me as a placeholder while dragging out the process unnecessarily.
This entire situation leaves a sour taste in my mouth. If you’re considering applying for a role at Deloitte, be prepared for a potentially frustrating journey where your time and skills may not be valued as highly as you’d expect from such a prestigious firm. From my perspective, it feels like they took advantage of my willingness to engage in their process without offering the basic courtesy of clear communication or follow-through.
In conclusion, while I respect Deloitte as a global leader in its field, this experience has left me questioning their commitment to treating candidates fairly and professionally. I hope they take steps to improve their recruitment practices because right now, it feels like they’re taking the piss—and losing talented individuals in the process.
