Deloitte

In my case, I'm going to talk about Deloitte DXD, the technology consulting division, in Barcelona.

• Atmosphere 10/10, generally young (20-30 years old). I've met fantastic people at this company.
• Opportunity for personal growth and/or improvement of soft skills.
• In addition to the 22 vacation days, there are 5 more at Christmas and 4 at Easter.
• Intensive hours from 8 am to 3 pm from July 1st to September 15th (2.5 months).
• Intensive Fridays from 8 am to 3 pm.
• Flexibility in arrival/departure times (arrive between 8-10 am and leave from 5:30 pm onwards).
• Flexible compensation (transportation vouchers, restaurant vouchers).
• Access to learning platforms (Udemy, LinkedIn Learning) and English courses.
• Possibility of obtaining certifications (Java, AWS, SCRUM, etc.).
• There is always a willingness from the company and colleagues to help, or listen in case of any problem.
• On occasion, company events (Christmas dinner, training courses...), although currently paused due to the pandemic.
• Remote work (although this is a result of the pandemic; I don't know how it will remain).

• "Normal" work schedule of 43 hours per week.
• Salaries slightly below market average.
• Overtime: not paid monetarily, if it is ever compensated fully or partially.
• Depending on the project/team you land on, it can be a mess (lack of testing, lack of QAs, sloppy agile, old, poor-quality code, exploitative bosses).
• High staff turnover; they are unable to retain talent.
• Annoying and excessive bureaucracy (especially for installing software).
• The internal network proxy and the piles of software installed on the computer (e.g., antivirus) sometimes hinder work.
• Unobjective salary evaluation system (opinion shared by many of my former colleagues).
