I applied online and never had to talk to a recruiter. I went straight to an engineer on the Android team. We had a discussion about what video games I play and my career path.
It seemed like a nice phone call, but I have no clue as to what they were looking for. What video games I play has nothing to do with a development job, and my career path is already stated in my resume.
I was told that they didn't feel I was passionate about gaming and/or impressed by my experience, which was already stated in my resume. How they can judge that based on a few minutes of conversation, I have no idea.
I do not recommend applying to the Android team here.
What video games do you play?
