Pros: - Smart and supportive peers. - Impression infra with little engineering resource to support billions of messages per day.

Cons: - Company strategies kept changing to figure out the monetization path. - Career ladders are almost equivalent with FAANG level but without matching pay.

Pros: Very good work-life balance, at least for my team.

Cons: Bad leadership; everyone just trying to get themselves promoted.

Pros: Companies are not your friends, but Discord has done okay by us (with the exception of the hiring boom of the pandemic and layoffs early 2024). I appreciate the ability to work remotely, and the flexibility and trust I am given to do my job well. Discord also has pretty high internal transparency, including the good and the bad. Sometimes it can look like leadership is still figuring stuff out, but I'd rather know where we stand! And right now, we are on a clear path business-wise and leadership is leading with confidence. Culture-wise, I love that my coworkers all care so much about the product we're building, and I can engage with them directly on any problems that arise. Even working remotely, everyone feels like a human.

Cons: Using Discord at work instead of email and Slack makes internal communication a bit messy. It's hard to find information sometimes.
