A lengthy 10-week wait followed the application before being contacted with any feedback. My HR interaction after being contacted for an interview was very professional.
I was flown in late the prior day for a one-day, on-site interview with four individuals:
I was completely flexible in the scheduling of this interview, but was disappointed to find that the hiring manager was not present and had instead asked a peer to conduct the interview.
Interview questions were either cookie-cutter, in the case of the hiring manager's peer, or completely unprepared, in the case of the potential peer. All of the interviewers seemed disinterested and unengaged. Despite HR flying me in for an on-site interview, I received the impression I was never seriously considered for the position by the hiring manager or interview team.
I was told that I was "over-qualified" by the potential customer during my interview. When I asked why that would be a problem, the interviewer seemed dumbfounded and provided no reason.
I was never given a reason for failure to be selected for an offer, only receiving a boilerplate rejection letter about a week after the interview. I was left to assume that I was either being discriminated against because of my age (I am well over 40 and the entire staff was younger) or the hiring manager was simply going through the motions to placate HR in order to hire an internal candidate.
You appear over-qualified.
