Pros
  • Contractor pay isn't terrible
  • People are relatively polite
  • Everything is themed with Disney IP
Cons
  • Paradoxically, managers will micromanage you as an engineer and yet say they don't want to "spoon feed" you information.
  • There are no clear requirements. Requirements that are known are communicated via word-of-mouth and are not consistent between team members.
  • Some managers think that being a manager is inspiring people; others think that being a manager is telling others what to do. Disney managers are the latter, unfortunately.
Advice to Management

Encourage ownership over tasks and processes. There seems to be a fundamental lack of trust between management and engineers. You need to think about why, because from the outside looking in, you all look ridiculous. This also is reflected in the internal products.
