My bosses at Disney were amazing!
There was clear communication between the researchers and the workers. The tone of the virtual work environment was professional, yet friendly. We were expected to give our "A+" game, but the workers were coached, never pushed. I also felt as if my contributions were meaningful, even when my ideas didn't fit in with the overall plan, if I didn't understand something, or if my suggestions were not implemented.
Disney Research knew how to keep people motivated and happy at the same time.
Of all the places I have worked as a virtual freelancer, Disney Research was the most professional, the most demanding, and the most missed job I will ever have.
Nothing will ever take the place of working for Disney. I've had satisfying jobs after working for The Mouse, but none of them come close to how much I liked working for Disney Research. I didn't rate for Career Opportunities or Compensation & Benefits because it was a short-term position, but I gave high scores to the other ratings.
Keep up the good work with the communication and coaching. It was a positive work environment.
General online interview with a few technical questions, followed by a take-home assignment (~4 hours). Didn't hear back for 3 months after sending in the assignment. Upon emailing them, they told me the position had been filled.
The interview process was standard: a manager conversation followed by a LeetCode-style technical round. I enjoyed the overall experience. It felt like a typical big-tech interview. I am currently interviewing here.
It's an experience-based interview. We walked through former DE experience and API-related jobs. But the position freezes later on, so there was no next round. I had to move forward. They need to fetch data from multimedia platforms like TikTok.
