The engineering department I worked in was very small, less than 8 people at any given point. You primarily work online on a project that you're assigned. Usually, it's a simple but mundane task. I worked primarily on updating code that had been maintained for over 10 years. Each engineering department is different in the projects assigned, the location on property, and obviously the work environment. My group was small and laid back but always expected to be updated on progress or delays. I loved working there.
You learn that in larger companies, politics comes into play when big decisions are made. Despite that, a more efficient path could have been taken, but it usually comes down to immediate finances, not long-term planning, sadly.
Share as much as you can with the interns. You are a wealth of knowledge to us interns lacking experience in the field, both in technical and political problems.
The interview questions were very practical, unlike those at some other high-level companies. I did not feel like they were trying to put me through the wringer, as they could have.
Interviewed through a consultation company. One round with Disney leadership (Data Team Lead, Software Team Lead, Project Manager), where they took turns asking questions. Next round was with a Data Analyst and Data Engineer, in a similar format.
I only spoke with the recruiter. I felt the experience was fine. The only issue was on my end, as my network kept interrupting the call. He was extremely nice about it and worked with me. I never heard anything about the next steps in the process, n
