Pros
  • Some extremely talented people working as individual contributors.
  • Open source activity from individuals (although without any concrete support from the higher-ups).
  • Looks good on the resume.
  • Good work/life balance (no expectations of answering after hours) for non-oncall people.
  • Hackathons and internal conferences/meetups.
Cons
  • Terrible processes: everything takes ages, including delivering a work laptop.
  • Corporate red tape makes every "extra" thing a nuisance that requires tens of IT support calls and emails.
  • Lots of reorgs, urgent projects showing up randomly or becoming irrelevant on a whim.
  • Way below market rate in some countries.
  • No exit interview.
  • No room for innovation in the projects: focusing pretty much only on acquiring more customers to beat competition's numbers and making investors happy, no new features that would help users.
  • Massive delays in referral bonus payment.
  • Not a lot of possibility for growth: manager claims interest in your progress but never lifts a finger to actually help.
Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Pay fair salaries. Do something new, not just focusing on more users.
