Quiet atmosphere at Raleigh office.
Distributed team with poor communication. I was hired to build out a framework for a prototype. Or at least that is what I was told. While I was focused on the architecture, a coworker (same contracting company) was busy cranking out "fixes" for Jira tickets. I continually asked for feedback from the team lead and management and was told there were no issues and everything was going good. I specifically asked if I was being gauged based on the number of Jira tickets fixed, and I was told no, that we are running a marathon and not a sprint. Yesterday, I was asked to document the architecture and capture my thoughts on a portion of the system. Today, I was told my services were no longer needed based on performance. I have no idea what that even means. I do know I was really sick and up all night, and I overslept the next morning. When I awoke 1.5 hours later than I usually come in, I sent an email letting management know I would be out. My contracting company rep was informed I should have let them know ahead of time I would be out. I'm still at a loss as to what happened, given I was told everything was going great.
Please convey your expectations and be clear on what is expected.
I don't know if my contracting company dropped the ball or if your concerns were never communicated. All I know is I was the last to know there was an issue, and then I was informed after my termination.
The interview process was standard: a manager conversation followed by a LeetCode-style technical round. I enjoyed the overall experience. It felt like a typical big-tech interview. I am currently interviewing here.
It's an experience-based interview. We walked through former DE experience and API-related jobs. But the position freezes later on, so there was no next round. I had to move forward. They need to fetch data from multimedia platforms like TikTok.
Tech-wise, Java full-stack and backend technologies are important. Good understanding of DSA and design. Technologies: Java, SQL, React, Jenkins, HTML, CSS, JS, Git, Kafka, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Database, Swift, J2EE, Spring Boot, Security, AI P
