Pros

Access to the theme parks.

Behind-the-scenes knowledge (for the curious).

Pride in the brand.

You become popular with old friends and distant relatives.

Also, the I.T. organization is large and generally follows reasonable and prudent best practices for software development and systems maintenance.

Cons

In I.T., there are way too many middle managers. Information is closely held. Advancement requires significant role-playing and patience.

Advice to Management

I.T. Leadership: The surveys and feedback sessions you receive are skewed and sadly incorrect. Find out what your cast really thinks could be done to make the operation more efficient and to make themselves happier and more productive. A lot of smart people work at all levels on your team; don't focus all your attention on the master politicians who made it into your inner circle.
