At first, I thought DocuSign was a place I'd recommend people interview at. However, after receiving an offer, I changed my mind. Yes, you read that correctly: I DON'T recommend this place, even after being GIVEN an offer.
I was bait-and-switched on the leveling and strung along the whole way, wasting both the company's time and mine. I was offered an entry software engineering position despite having multiple offers with senior software engineer titles and over 6 years of experience. Why not ask harder questions or probe more with follow-up questions instead of extending an offer for a lower position?
Compensation was reasonable, but the recruiter tried to gloss over the fact that it was for an entry position. Clearly, I should have been more suspicious when most interviewers didn't ask any follow-up questions.
Needless to say, I went with an offer elsewhere. I will NOT be 'reaching out' to any talent acquisition folks because there's not really anything they can do to remedy this. It took a whole month to get from setting up the phone interview to receiving the offer, and no one gained anything out of it except inflating some interviewers' egos.
The phone screen went really well, according to the interviewer. We finished early, and he said that the technical portion only goes longer for less proficient people.
On-site, I had two pretty dumb/discouraging/misleading interviews, a friendly lunch, and two regular interviews with lots of follow-up. The next day, they called me to tell me they were on the fence and asked me to come in again to do two more interviews with the VP and director. Those two interviews were much more reasonable than the first two and led to an offer.

Low-level questions, brain teasers, OOP design, system design, whiteboard coding, and non-STAR/STAR behavioral questions.

It's about "just right" size, where you have support and a full set of corporate services like IT, HR, facilities, etc., but small enough that when you see a problem that needs addressing, you can very often become a champion to solve that issue without having to check with 20 people first. You end up solving the problem at many or every level in which it needs to be addressed, which is incredibly rewarding. DocuSign is also a fairly flexible work environment for engineers, coming up with creative schedules, processes, and locations for you to achieve your goals. Finally, DocuSign is very exciting right now because our new CEO has been on board for just long enough to really have a grasp of everything and is starting to make the big moves we hoped the company would make for its future. Will we IPO soon? Don't ask me, but it sure seems like we've been closer than ever in the 3+ years I have worked here. Finally, it is a company that cares about its employees and the communities in which we live. They have a matching gifts IMPACT program for nonprofits, plus continually add better and better benefits to support all sorts of workers with different abilities and life constraints. Recent changes to family leave, for example, were very generous. Diversity and gender equity are more than just checkboxes on a list here. They really seem to mean it.Cons: Being split between Seattle and San Francisco headquarters still has some division in ways teams work, their style, process, and leadership. I think with new leaders, these things are starting to be ironed out, but it has caused a slowdown in the delivery of some key things, in my humble opinion.

The growth of the company provides a delightful array of technical challenges and opportunities, allowing engineers to grow in many directions and remain versatile and leverage multiple stacks (.NET, Node.js, etc.) in interesting combinations. The company is poised for a great deal of continued growth and employs a number of very intelligent engineers, making it a delight to work here as a software engineer. The benefits offered to employees are also quite substantial.Cons: While DocuSign is growing quickly, it is also working through normal growing pains, including how to organize and manage teams and priorities. There is also a tendency within the Engineering organization to form cliques amongst employees who worked together at other large companies. While not an outright problem, it does complicate making clear evaluations of software/technology as they apply to DocuSign, rather than the company at which that clique previously worked (e.g., "We tried this at X and it didn't work out so well, so we will avoid that here."). There are also limited opportunities for advancement as the company is still growing and has not yet established a clear track for career growth. Additionally, compensation, while the overall package is quite substantial, is lower in terms of raw salary than others. These issues are not uncommon for a growing company, but they are still present.
