I was contacted by a co-founder.
I had several phone conversations with him and two other EMs. The phone calls were actually useful to determine whether I wanted to fly in for the on-site or not.
I went through dozens of interviews during my recent job search. The DoorDash interview was the most efficient. The recruiter was competent and quick to respond. The on-site was scheduled in advance, and I got a chance to look up interviewers on LinkedIn before the interview. They did substitute one of the interviewers last-minute, though.
The interview actually made sense to me. Their technical and systems design questions were reasonable: not too complicated, but deep enough. The management experience interview was pretty standard. The culture fit interview was a bit strange to me.
Unlike many other companies, they had me talk in detail about things I built at my previous job. This is something I personally like to ask candidates a lot, as it yields tons of useful information. I was happy to see them doing the same.
