Machine Learning Engineer Interview Experience

Process

DoorDash outsources the first round of HR interviews to candidates. They ask candidates to respond via email with answers to approximately 15 open-ended questions, followed by a two-part technical interview: a Project Deep Dive and a Coding Challenge.

After completing the two-part technical interview, DoorDash completely ghosted me. I might not have passed the project portion, but I had enough time in the coding interview that the interviewer and I began to work together on a final, optimal solution after I had completed the problem sufficiently.

I emailed twice to check in with recruiters but received no reply. This was a theme throughout the interview process. After submitting the initial 15-question response, the recruiter responded to me approximately two weeks later.
