The process began with a 20-minute introduction from the recruiter. On the same day, a coordinator reached out to schedule a phone interview, which took place three days later. The day after the phone interview, the recruiter updated me, confirming the decision to move forward to an onsite interview. They scheduled a 30-minute call for the next day to go over detailed information regarding the onsite interview, which had been emailed earlier that same day. As a pleasant surprise, this call not only introduced the interview format and the company's culture but also included a coupon for DoorDash delivery. On the same day, my availabilities were communicated to the coordinator, who then scheduled my onsite interview for a week later.
The onsite interview included sessions on coding, design, technical communication, culture, and a lunch discussion. The technical sessions tackled interesting and relevant problems related to DoorDash's core business. The interviewers were engaging; as I worked through problem-solving or presented ideas, it felt similar to a real working scenario. The lunch session was shorter, but I had the opportunity to ask many questions and discuss interesting topics, through which I truly felt the team's excitement. My experience with culture-fit sessions has often felt rigid, with standard behavioral questions asked sequentially. However, the one at DoorDash covered a lot of ground seamlessly. After the final session, the same recruiter checked in about my overall experience and answered all my questions thoroughly.
Within a couple of days, the recruiter emailed to schedule a call to discuss feedback from the onsite interview. As the next step, an informational call was scheduled with the hiring manager a few days later. This call provided answers to many of my questions about the company, the product, and the team, making my decision much easier. Furthermore, I was invited to visit the local office for an in-person meeting with the manager for additional discussions, which was very valuable.
Overall, the interview process was very smooth and swift. The people I interacted with were professional yet friendly. It was definitely one of the top interview experiences I have had.
