I was contacted by a recruiter from another resources company through LinkedIn, who called and redirected me to DraftKings.
There was an online HackerRank coding challenge. We had to complete the add, remove, and three other methods for the employee hierarchy question, based on a scenario. It's pretty simple if you work with an object-oriented language daily. I completed the coding challenge 30 minutes before the deadline with all test cases passed.
Two days later, I received an email to schedule the on-site interview.
On-Site Interview:
There were four rounds:
All four interviews went extremely well. I haven't seen any reason why they rejected me.
Result - The recruiter contacted me almost 5 days after the interview and said it was one of the closest calls they had ever taken in the company. Currently, they are going forward with a local person who is in Boston. ☹️☹️☹️ (I thought, who makes a decision based on relocation expenses?). I asked if there was anything with the technical aspect. They just randomly create some factors which I felt was very fake, just to reject a candidate.
As everyone said in all previous reviews, they will just create random excuses and give random reasons if they already have the resource for the particular team.
Suggestion for all candidates - Recruiters will be very sweet at the start and speak about all the things and their culture. Once the process is done, they won’t even tell the feedback properly or even respond to emails properly. Please try to avoid the process if you get the call. I felt this is just a time-wasting process, since they don’t know what they need and are totally confused with the process. Interviewers don’t know what they are asking; they just randomly ask questions and expect the answers they have memorized/written. Unless you answer the same way they expect, like a school kid, they won’t consider you.
Suggestion to recruiters - Please tell the reality to the candidates about how the interviews go and what they should expect. Candidates will spend a lot of time traveling for an interview, taking time off from work/school.
Try to avoid the interview process if you already have something lined up with other companies. It’s totally, totally, totally, totally not worth it.
