Software Developer Interview Experience - Singapore

Process

Consists of 3 rounds:

  1. A 4-hour technical interview with 3 sub-rounds. Two were about solving algorithmic questions and some minor C++ questions. The last sub-round was a 2-hour coding challenge. Interviewed by 2 software developers.

  2. A 2-hour technical interview with another 2 sub-rounds. The first sub-round was designing an OOP system. The other was an algorithmic question plus a data structure design problem.

  3. Although technically an interview, this round is more of a Q&A session with my future team lead. No technical or behavioral questions were asked.

I told my interviewers I had no prior experience in the socket and parallel programming paradigms. They then agreed to only ask questions that did not require such knowledge. However, they mentioned this might not be the case for fresh grads applying for this role.

I tried to be as collaborative as possible with the interviewers, constantly exchanging ideas. When I was stuck in a particular spot for too long, I also asked for hints.

Overall, the interviews were positive experiences. The interviewers were highly passionate about their work, and the settings were also quite casual.

Questions

Cannot reveal the questions, but the algorithmic questions are definitely LeetCode hard difficulty.
