Company Environment:
Food. Plenty. Yum.
But seriously, besides the endless food and snacks, a games room with INSANE gaming rigs, and beautiful views of downtown Montreal, my internship was a blast. Vigilant has a very friendly and family-like community that made me feel very much at home. As a very sporty person, I maintained my active lifestyle attending weekly soccer and basketball nights at a nearby gymnasium and high-intensity cross-fit style workouts in the office. Being a young and well-established company, Vigilant has the benefits of having a very progressive and up-to-date start-up environment as well as a deep-rooted organization found in large companies.
Work Experience:
From the very beginning of the term, my learning has always been a priority. I had free rein to choose any tech stack to implement my projects, allowing me to fine-tune existing skills while trying new things. Despite my official title, Front-End Web Developer Intern, I was given the opportunity to learn and implement back-end development. I gained priceless knowledge of web app development from my godlike mentors. The work was challenging, and I gained extremely valuable insights and skills throughout the term.
There are very high expectations at Vigilant. Although I was eager for the challenge, the lack of deadlines and requirements sometimes made it hard to grasp the bar that was set.
Got an online assessment after applying. There were two questions: one about KNN and the other was solving a math question by coding. The assessment lasted 70 minutes.
My interview experience with DRW left much to be desired. The interview started off on the wrong foot as my interviewer arrived a staggering 40 minutes late without any prior communication or apology. This lack of punctuality was not only disrespectf
Online Technical Questions with submission. It is similar to LeetCode, where you submit the answer to three different questions of similar difficulty. There is a 1 hour 30 minute time limit, and you can use the programming language of your choice.
