Process

The process took 3 weeks.

I secured an on-campus interview at a career fair.

I had a 45-minute interview with a recruiter where I spoke about projects. I was asked to analyze a couple of eBay pages and say what I liked and disliked about them.

Two weeks later, I spoke with my to-be manager over the phone for about 30 minutes. I was asked a couple of higher-level object-oriented programming questions. Nothing too technical was involved.

I heard back a week later.

Pros: Work-life balance is good. Get to work on large-scale projects at the start of your career. Compensation is good enough, though not great. Very nice and friendly people. Managers are nice, though they are powerless.

Cons: Bad goals and objectives. Upper management is rigid and not flexible. Bad promotion strategy; hard workers don't get recognized. Innovation has stopped in engineering.

eBay Interview Questions

Partition Equal Subset Sum

Determine if a given array of numbers can be divided into two subsets with equal sums. Essentially, can you split the array so both sides add up to the same value?

Dynamic Programming

Remove One Element to Make the Array Strictly Increasing

Determine if removing a single element from an array can make the remaining elements strictly increasing. You need to check if it's possible to obtain a strictly increasing sequence by deleting at most one element.

LRU Cache

Design a data structure that acts as a Least Recently Used (LRU) cache. Implement methods to get and put key-value pairs, evicting the least recently used entry when the cache is full.
