Process

The recruiter contacted me with the job. I had a quick call with the recruiter to understand my background.

There was a phone screen, which was purely technical. Questions focused on CSS specificity and creating a progress bar with multiple colors.

I received a call for the onsite interview at their San Jose office. I had the worst experience ever!!

There were five interviewers:

  1. Someone from the same team I was interviewing for. This person was very knowledgeable and conducted a 100% technical whiteboard coding session. This was a very good experience.
  2. A senior person from a different team. They tested my knowledge of design principles and basic good practices.
  3. The manager for the team I was interviewing for. They took me out for lunch, but were not engaging and seemed least interested in knowing me. I was talking to them the entire time.
  4. A senior person who gave me a question and was in their own world, sending emails or doing something else. They were least interested in knowing what I did.
  5. The last person, also very senior. This was 100% coding on the whiteboard, and we had an open discussion about various SPA architectures. They were very knowledgeable, and this was a great experience.

I received an automated rejection email while I was interviewing with the last person. That was crazy!!
