eBay's large-scale infrastructure provides enough opportunity for a database engineer to learn and use cutting-edge technologies. eBay is very active in adopting new technologies available.
The total compensation package is not as good as that of a few leading companies. It lacks the attraction of the potential IPO of startups.
eBay required that there must be some percentage of the workforce in the low-performance bucket. This is really not a good idea.
