There were plenty of challenging problems to be solved.
Horrible tech infrastructure. Everyone worked from home, but the VPN made it impossible to get things done. Some days it would take 5 minutes just to check your company email when connected to it. eBay also switched over to employ a large amount of contractors, leading to extremely high turnover.
Stop doing everything in-house.
