A very high-end, corporate, and very competitive environment. In order to succeed, eBay invests a lot in its workforce. This is very noticeable, from work-life balance to tuition reimbursement and so on. eBay certainly knows how to pamper its workers well!
It is a very big and global organization, but I think a lot is being done to mitigate the physical distance.
