In regards to the intern experience, I am totally convinced that eBay's internship program is one of the best of the country. They really care about the interns and try to provide the best experience possible. There were multiple events across the summer that were super fun, such as: booking a whole amusement park for the company, taking the interns to the beach in Santa Cruz, lots of meetings with the leaders of the company (CEO, CTO, VPs, etc).
When it comes to the work: eBay tries to integrate the interns to work on substantial tasks for the business, that usually would make it to production, so it is nice to see that you are able to contribute to the customers with your work.
Overall a fantastic experience.
It can be slow paced sometimes, but they will usually give you the ability to move faster if you push for that. But going fast is not the default.
Online assessment with 4 questions for pre-screening. Used CodeSignal. It took some time to match the setup they wanted. 70 minutes for one very easy question, two intermediate difficulty, and one hard question.
I was invited to SWE Internship Power Day. It involved two back-to-back interviews. The questions covered a variety of topics, including LeetCode easy/medium problems and linked list questions. I used C++ for the coding portions.
Two rounds back to back. First round was by a manager, second round by an engineer. This was a little weird, as the manager interviewer asked a few questions not strongly related to software engineering.
