Pros

I mean, you're playing video games for money, LOL. It also definitely opens your mind in the way you think about gaming and learning new ways to come up with your own methods to use towards your game skill. Fellow employees are awesome and mostly each unique in their own way. Get to be part of something that millions of people will participate in.

Cons

The only thing that I would say I had an issue with would be the fact that it’s a contract job. Right before I left, they were informing us about the new contract policy, which would even more limit the ability to renew your contract. From my understanding, it was already a three-month furlough that you had to wait. Now, I think you may not even get more than two contracts.

But the main point being, as far as actually getting on the EA team as an EA employee with EA benefits and etc., it’s really hard to obtain that kind of job. It usually involves some type of game-designing degree as a requirement.

Lastly, this can be a pro or con, but the amount you make is not up to you, or even your ability to work or your skill. Meaning, you could be a far greater tester than another individual but are working on completely different projects. The popularity of the game and how much it does and makes is going to reflect on how much you make, so no matter how skilled or not, it is whatever project you’re assigned to.

Advice to Management

Try to at least keep some of the employees that you have as testers on as EA employees. I know a handful of people who were amazing testers and came up with the most unique ways to test any game. They were also able to help everyone. They would not only be good for the game designers, but as far as efficiency for the company, it could be phenomenal.

Also, just throwing this out there: have some kind of competitions every once in a while, like in the break room. There could be Call of Duty tournaments, whether within each EA site or competing against EA sites around the world. Sometimes these tournaments are not necessarily imperative, but they would not only foster friendly competition, but employees would be highly motivated with some type of reward or bonus earned from winning these types of EA events.
