Software Developer Interview Experience

Process

The first round was a phone interview, and I was mostly asked about my resume. There was just one problem-solving question.

After that, I was asked to take a computer test in a test center. The questions were similar to those posted by other users and those found on Careercup. This was a really long test.

After about two weeks, I was invited to their campus for an in-person interview. The night before the interview, I got to have dinner with one of the Epic employees along with other candidates. This was a very informal interview where you can ask about how working at Epic in general is. The person who took us to dinner was a project manager at Epic and didn't know much about the onsite interview details.

For the onsite interview, as soon as you arrive at Epic, you are greeted by an HR representative who will most likely be doing your wrap-up interview before you leave Epic. She gave each of us a schedule of the day's program, which included a campus overview, software overview, talking with one of the senior developers about their work, a case study interview, lunch with an employee where you'll be asked to explain some of your work, an interview where you have to present one of your development projects, a couple more tests, and finally an HR wrap-up interview. After the end of which, you are handed another 2-minute test.

The process was overall exhausting. At the end of one interview, you are taken to another without any breaks. Epic has an amazing campus, which you get to see on the tour. The only problem I see is that the technology you'll be working on is pretty much useless outside the company.

Questions

Since they use an internal programming language (MUMPS/CACHE) and you are not expected to know these, questions focussed on giving a scenario and seeing how you try to come up with a solution.
