Software Developer Interview Experience - Charlottesville, Virginia

Process

Pretty interesting interview process. I talked to them first at a career fair, but that did not seem too important as they just had me apply online.

Then they scheduled a phone interview, which was less of an interview than a personality screening. It was very conversational, basically describing life at Epic. They did ask one programming question, but it was pretty simple.

Next, I took an assessment online through this weird service called ProctorU. This was pretty strange - they basically have control of your computer and watch you through your webcam while you take the test. It had two parts:

  • For the first, they make up a language and you have to answer multiple-choice questions about it.
  • The second part was more difficult. In that, you had to answer a couple of programming questions in any language you choose.

Unfortunately, I did not pass the test. It was a positive experience overall, though.
